Building a log cabin requires using the right tools for the job and a little knowledge of how to use them.

Before unpacking your timber kit building it’s important that you have all the hardware you need for construction.

Below is a list of the basic tools required for assembly of a log cabin timber kit.

It must be noted that if you haven’t used these tools in the past and have no basic knowledge of DIY, then it’s best for both you and your new log cabin to recruit the services of someone who has.

Two people minimum will be required for construction of your fabulous new log cabin.

Log cabin tools checklist

  • Hand Saw
  • Drill
  • Power screwdriver (with assortment of bits)
  • Heavy Rubber mallet (ideally two)
  • Hammer
  • Spirit level - a minimum of four feet long.
  • Measuring tape
  • Pliers.
  • Ladders / step ladders / scaffold / harnesses.
  • Wood Clamps / sash clamps / ratchet straps for larger builds.
  • Plane - preferably powered for trimming and final finishing
  • Power tools such as saw or jigsaw may be useful
  • Wood glue and pins may be useful
